LogoPond Downtime

Today LogoPond’s web host (Media Temple) ~~suspended~~ cancelled our account and told us that we had to upgrade to a dedicated server. So this has resulted in one big headache while we move the files and databases over to our fresh server. Hopefully we can have things up and running this weekend.

The good news is David wrapped up development on the favourite logo feature, users can now mark a logo and access them from their profile.

I’ll be honest…get away from Media Temple. You can find MUCH better prices and service pretty much anywhere else.

If you’ve gotta go the dedicated route, check out The Planet. We’ve been using them for years and only have good things to say.

Media Temple is, unfortunately, all hype.

Thanks for the information Josh, we went with Media Temple because they had good word of mouth plus I have used them in the past with very little to complain about. Now if only A Small Orange had some dedicated available I would recommend them to the team, since I have had a great experience with my personal sites hosted there.

I’m afraid I have to agree with Josh, MT is all hype. Plus, they’re forcing you to spend more money when you probably would have been fine on a shared server.

Agreed on MT. It was definitely hyped up by designer types and I still can’t figure out why people like it so much.

On the subject of hosting . . . I’ve had good luck with both TextDrive and The Agathon Group.

BTW, Check out http://www.sachost.com for hosting. I’ve been with them for years, great prices, great support. None of that big time corporate gahbage. Mediatemple is a little trend….you’re cool if you have the “MT” logo on your site ;)

If you guys’ find another host, I’d be interested in your feedback on them. I was on dreamhost, but their reliability was horrible - I’ve been on media temple for some time, and although they’ve been reliable; I’ve found their support to be wishy washy (haven’t used that term since I was a kid), and their features seem overpriced for the services I’m getting. I just need unlimited domains, unlimited mysql, php 5+, the basics, and a decent amount of space from a reliable company and I’m happy:)

I’ve never understood the Media Temple fanaticism. Yes they go to a lot of effort in server specs but so does every other quality web host. The only difference is they document it ad nauseam. I run a small Australian based web host and you just don’t cancel a account. If a client’s resource usage is higher than their allocated plan, you contact them and work through it. I can recommend Layered Technologies and HTTPme as brilliant hosts for dedicated servers.
