Apple Mighty Mouse

Just received my Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse that I had ordered myself as a late Christmas present. Taking it out of the package my first impression was it felt a little cheap, once the batteries were in the weight felt just about right. Installation was quick, I turned it on and added it to my Bluetooth devices. The whole process took a few seconds. I also changed the default configuration, found under the Keyboard & Mouse system panel, to enable secondary clicking (right-click) and 360 degree.

Depending on how you hold the Mighty Mouse right clicking doesn’t work that well. If you click anywhere above/side of the button it triggers the primary click. So mapping the secondary button there was really frustrating and wasn’t going to fly. What worked best for me was both sides of the mouse set as the primary button and clicking the scroll ball in as the secondary button. With this setting the mouse feels close perfect.

I definitely recommend the Mighty Mouse but it does feel a little clumsy at first, especially if you have been using a non-apple mouse for a while.

Update: I just found this little app for customizing button layouts in different applications - Steer Mouse
